A penetrating chest wound that isn't sealed becomes a tension pneumothorax. The HyFin® Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack from North American Rescue is the standard for prevention, management, and treatment of open and tension pneumothorax from penetrating chest trauma — two seals, individually packaged, designed to cover both entry and exit wounds.

Three vented channels allow air to escape during exhalation while preventing airflow into the chest cavity during inhalation. Even if two of the three channels become obstructed, the vent remains fully operational — a built-in fail-safe for the moment failure is not an option.

• 3-channel vent design. Prevents inhalation of air into the chest cavity while allowing exhalation through the vent channels. All three channels allow blood escape — if two become blocked, the third maintains function.
• Two seals per pack. One for the entry wound, one for the exit — both individually packaged so you can apply one and save the other, or deploy both simultaneously for multiple penetrating injuries.
• Advanced adhesive for adverse conditions. Specifically engineered to seal over blood, sweat, body hair, and environmental contaminants. A chest seal that fails to adhere in the field is not a chest seal.
• Single-step peel-and-apply. Large red pull tab enables fast, one-handed application. Transparent backing facilitates accurate placement over the wound area.
• Gauze wipe included. Each seal includes a gauze pad for wound surface prep before application.
